Detroit -- When Twins general manager Terry Ryan described his ideal choice to replace Ron Gardenhire as supervisor, His left the door wide open on bringing in a fresh style from outside of the organization.

Molitor, Fifty eight, is considered the favorite after spending final season as a coach using the Twins. The Hall associated with Famer is familiar with the players on the big league roster and also has caused many of the club's top prospects such as Byron Buxton and Miguel Sano during his time period as the organization's Minor Group baserunning and infield coordinator.

So while Molitor and Mientkiewicz would be the top two internal individuals, the Twins are also supposed to look at bench coach Terry Steinbach in addition to Triple-A Rochester manager Gene Glynn.

Among candidates from outside the corporation, White Sox third-base coach Joe McEwing as well as Red Sox bench coach Torey Lovullo need to be strongly considered. Orioles boss Buck Showalter also openly supported bench coach John Russell being a candidate, and he's expected to be interviewed once Baltimore's playoff manage is over.

The Twins have also been connected to Cardinals third-base coach Jose Oquendo, Rays bench mentor Dave Martinez and A's bench private coach Chip Hale.
